Venus Near the Moon

COSMIC MESSAGE
The two brightest objects in our night sky, Venus and the Moon, appeared to pass each other last week. This image, taken near Quebec City, Canada, captures the moment when they were less than one degree apart. Venus, on the lower left, shows diffraction spikes, an effect from the camera itself. This conjunction happens often, a regular celestial ballet.
