The Tulip in the Swan

COSMIC MESSAGE

This one-degree wide telescopic view looks toward the constellation Cygnus the Swan, along the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy. It centers on Sh2-101, a bright hydrogen emission region cataloged by astronomer Stewart Sharpless in 1959. About 8,000 light-years distant, this nebula is popularly known as the Tulip Nebula.
