Dust Sculptures in the Rosette Nebula

NASA APOD · Ignacio de la Cueva Torregrosa
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Rosette Nebula, also known as NGC 2244, contains dark dust and gas globules. These 'cosmic dust sculptures' are slowly being eroded by the energetic light and winds from nearby massive stars. If left undisturbed, these molecular-cloud globules would likely form new stars and planets. This image highlights specific colors of Sulfur.
