COSMIC MESSAGE
The Merope Reflection Nebula, NGC 1435, surrounds Merope, one of the brightest stars in the Pleiades. It glows blue because small carbon grains in the nebula scatter blue light more efficiently than red light. The nebula's brightness depends on the density of these grains and the star's luminosity.
