Saturn's moon Enceladus spews fountains of gas and ice crystals from cracks called 'tiger stripes' on its surface. The robotic Cassini spacecraft recently flew through these plumes. It found they contain water vapor and small amounts of methane. This discovery strengthens the idea that life could exist beneath Enceladus's icy crust.
