COSMIC MESSAGE

In 1006 AD, ancient humans witnessed a stellar explosion in Lupus, creating a "guest star" brighter than Venus that lasted for over two years. This supernova, SN 1006, occurred about 7,000 light-years away. The Hubble Space Telescope captured this image of a glowing ribbon in the supernova remnant, which continues to expand and fade today.
