Rosetta Spacecraft Passes Asteroid Steins

COSMIC MESSAGE

ESA's Rosetta spacecraft encountered asteroid 2867 Steins on its journey to Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Steins, a main-belt asteroid, initially appeared diamond-shaped. As Rosetta flew past, it revealed craters and a more elongated form, providing detailed images of this 5-kilometer-wide object.
