The Central Molecular Zone is the mysterious and complex region at the heart of our Milky Way Galaxy. This image, in radio and infrared light, shows fine details of this area. It contains dense gas laced with molecules, emission nebulae lit by massive young stars, and glowing supernova remnants. The curving Galactic Center Radio Arc also appears in purple.
