Mercury has many rayed craters, more than Earth's Moon, and scientists are not sure why. This image from the MESSENGER spacecraft shows a particularly striking rayed crater, about 80 kilometers across. MESSENGER captured this view during a flyby from about 20,000 kilometers above the planet's surface.
