COSMIC MESSAGE
The two prominent, spiky stars in the foreground are within our Milky Way Galaxy. The two eye-catching galaxies, however, lie about 200 million light-years beyond. Their distorted appearance is due to gravitational tides as they engage in close encounters, their bright cores separated by about 80,000 light-years from our perspective.
