Anticrepuscular Rays Over Colorado

NASA APOD · John Britton
COSMIC MESSAGE

What looks like supernatural light over the horizon is a simple trick of perspective and clouds. These are anticrepuscular rays, the projection of parallel light rays from the setting Sun onto the curved dome of the sky. The rays appear to converge opposite the Sun.
