COSMIC MESSAGE

On October 7, 2008, asteroid 2008 TC3 fell to Earth over the Nubian Desert. This was the first time an asteroid was detected in space before impacting our planet. Scientists initially thought it disintegrated completely, but satellite and ground observations led to a search. Over 600 meteorites were found, making up 10.5 kilograms of material from the asteroid, now known as Almahata Sitta.
