COSMIC MESSAGE

Messier 106, a spiral galaxy about 30,000 light-years across, sits 21 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici. Discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1781, it was later added to Charles Messier's catalog. This galaxy is an island universe, a vast collection of stars, gas, and dust.
