A Dusty Iris Nebula
NASA APOD · Alvin Jeng
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Iris Nebula, also known as NGC 7023, is a cloud of dust and gas 1,300 light-years away in Cepheus. A hot, young star illuminates the dust, making it glow. The surrounding cold gas and dust create fantastic shapes, like other flower-like nebulae in the sky.
