COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 2264 is a star-forming region in the constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn. It is about 2,700 light-years distant. This complex jumble of cosmic gas and dust mixes reddish emission nebulae with dark interstellar dust clouds. The emission nebulae are excited by energetic light from newborn stars.
