Earendel: A Star in the Early Universe

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Earendel might be the most distant star ever found. The Hubble Space Telescope observed a massive galaxy cluster, which gravitationally lensed and magnified a background galaxy. This distant galaxy, with a redshift of 6.2, appears as a long red string in the image. The beads on this string are likely star clusters, magnified by the foreground galaxy cluster.
