NASA APOD · Rich Richins
COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet C/2009 R1 McNaught graced dawn skies for northern hemisphere observers in June 2010. Captured from southern New Mexico, its long ion tail sweeps across the telescopic field. Remarkably, the tail stretches past the background star cluster NGC 1245 in Perseus, about 1.5 degrees from the comet's greenish head.
