The Methuselah Nebula, cataloged as MWP1, is a large planetary nebula in Cygnus. It spans about 15 light-years, making it one of the largest known. This nebula is about 4,500 light-years away. Planetary nebulae represent a brief final phase in a star's evolution, as the central star sheds its outer layers.
