This image provides a glimpse inside the dome of the Pic Du Midi Observatory in the French Pyrenees. The instrument shown is CLIMSO, which explores the Sun's surface and atmosphere. CLIMSO uses coronagraphs, developed by Bernard Lyot, to image the solar corona by blocking the Sun's bright disk.
