NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This colorful topographical map shows the far side of the Moon, the side we never see from Earth. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter's wide angle camera images almost the entire lunar surface monthly. By combining these images, scientists created this map with a resolution of about 300 meters. The map covers latitudes between 80 degrees north and south, revealing elevation differences of 10 to 20 meters.
