A Geminid Meteor Over Iran

NASA APOD · Arman Golestaneh
COSMIC MESSAGE

Some beautiful things begin as grains of sand. A cosmic sand grain, hurtling through the atmosphere at 35 kilometers per second, becomes an awe-inspiring meteor. This year's Geminid meteor shower peaked last week. Sky enthusiasts counted as many as 150 meteors per hour, despite the bright moon.
