Conjunction after Sunset

NASA APOD · Alireza Vafa
COSMIC MESSAGE

This telephoto view captures the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn through clouds in the wintry twilight over the Alborz Mountains in Iran. Jupiter and fainter Saturn were separated by roughly the diameter of the waxing crescent moon on December 17. On the day of their Great Conjunction, they were even closer.
