Aurora Over Raufarh�fn

This photo shows the aurora borealis over the Arctic Henge in Raufarh�fn, northern Iceland. The monuments of Arctic Henge are aligned to point due north. Following their apex line leads to the line connecting Merak and Dubhe, the end stars of the Big Dipper, which in turn points toward Polaris, the North Star. The aurora's colorful display adds to the dramatic celestial alignment.
