All the Water on Planet Earth

NASA APOD · Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
COSMIC MESSAGE

Despite Earth's surface being 70 percent covered by oceans, the actual volume of water is small compared to the planet's size. If all the water on or near Earth's surface were collected into a single sphere, its radius would be only about 700 kilometers. This is less than half the radius of Earth's Moon. This illustration helps visualize the relative scarcity of water on our planet.
