All the Water on Europa
NASA APOD · JPL/Caltech
COSMIC MESSAGE
Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, holds a vast amount of water. Data from the Galileo probe, which explored the Jovian system from 1995 to 2003, indicates a deep, global ocean beneath an ice layer. This subsurface ocean and ice could be between 80 to 170 kilometers deep. If all of Europa's water were collected into a sphere, it would have a radius of 877 kilometers.
