Mercury Spotting

COSMIC MESSAGE
Mercury, the smallest planet, appears as a tiny dark disk crossing the enormous face of the Sun in these images from the SOHO spacecraft. The transit lasted about five hours in 2003, as seen from Earth. SOHO, which constantly observes the Sun, had an unobstructed view of Mercury's progression from left to right across the solar disk.
