COSMIC MESSAGE

The Whirlpool Galaxy, M51, is a stunning pair of interacting galaxies. You can find it by following the Big Dipper's handle to its last bright star, then shifting your telescope slightly. The larger galaxy, NGC 5194, shows clear spiral arms and dust lanes. These features sweep in front of its companion galaxy, NGC 5195.
