NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Astronaut Harrison Schmitt stands next to the lunar rover at Shorty Crater, a site explored by Apollo 17. Gene Cernan took this image during their 75-hour stay on the Moon in 1972. It was here that Schmitt discovered orange lunar soil, a significant geological finding. The Apollo 17 mission brought back 110 kilograms of samples, more than any other lunar mission.
