COSMIC MESSAGE
The Cat's Eye Nebula, NGC 6543, is a well-known planetary nebula with striking symmetries. This image reveals an enormous, faint halo of gas surrounding the brighter central nebula. The halo, about six light-years across, shows strong emission from twice-ionized oxygen atoms in blue-green hues, hinting at the complex processes in this dying star system.
