Black Sun and Inverted Starfield

NASA APOD · Jim Lafferty
COSMIC MESSAGE

This image shows our Sun, but with a twist. It was captured in a specific red light, then rendered in black and white, and finally color-inverted. The resulting image was then added to an inverted starfield. Visible are long light filaments, dark active regions, prominences, and a moving carpet of hot gas.
