Wisps of the Veil Nebula

NASA APOD · Joaquin Ferreiros
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Veil Nebula, also known as the Cygnus Loop, is all that remains visible of a star that exploded in a supernova about 9,000 years ago. At the time, the expanding cloud was likely as bright as a crescent Moon, visible for weeks. Today, this supernova remnant has faded, appearing as delicate wisps in the constellation Cygnus.
