COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet PanSTARRS, a visitor from the outer Solar System, sweeps quickly through southern skies, following the Sun toward the western horizon. Here, it passes over Australia's CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, a 64-meter steerable dish. This dish has tracked space age exploration of comets before, including ESA's Giotto spacecraft as it flew by Comet Halley in 1986.
