This panoramic view from the 4,200-meter summit of Mauna Kea, Hawai'i, looks over a cloud layer toward the starry night sky and the rising Milky Way. The dome of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) is visible on the far left. Polaris, the North Star, shines beyond the dome. The Northern Cross asterism, led by the bright star Deneb, is embedded along the plane of the Milky Way.
