Comet PANSTARRS Just After Sunset

COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet PANSTARRS (C/2011 L4) is still visible on the western horizon just after sunset, though it is fading. This image shows the comet from a hilltop on First Encounter Beach in Massachusetts. The comet was discovered by and named for the Pan-STARRS astronomical sky survey. As it recedes from both Earth and the Sun, it will become less visible.
