Flying Over the Earth at Night

This compilation of images from the International Space Station shows Earth at night. You can see white clouds, the orange glow of city lights, and lightning flashes from thunderstorms. The thin golden haze of Earth's atmosphere is visible on the horizon, often decorated with the dancing colors of auroras. The green parts of auroras typically stay below the space station's altitude.
