Omega Centauri, a globular cluster containing over ten million stars, is the largest and brightest of its kind. It sits about 16,000 light-years away in the constellation Centaurus. This ancient ball of stars predates our Sun and is even visible to the unaided eye from the Southern Hemisphere.
