COSMIC MESSAGE
This wide-field view shows the Eagle Nebula, M16, and the Swan Nebula, M17, within the Sagittarius spiral arm of the Milky Way. Both nebulae are bright regions of active star formation. They lie along the spiral arm, which is filled with reddish emission from atomic hydrogen gas and dark, dusty nebulae. The centers of both nebulae are active star-forming areas.
