For the first time, Earth was photographed on the same day from both Mercury and Saturn. The Cassini spacecraft, orbiting Saturn, captured Earth as a pale blue dot below the rings. The MESSENGER spacecraft, orbiting Mercury, photographed the Earth-Moon system against a dark background. Earth is on the left in the MESSENGER image, with the Moon on the right.
