Noctilucent Clouds and Aurora Over Scotland

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The sky over Caithness, Scotland, showed both noctilucent clouds and an aurora. Noctilucent clouds are rare, high-altitude clouds that glow after sunset. Auroras are caused by charged particles from the Sun interacting with Earth's magnetic field. This time-lapse movie captured both phenomena in a single night.
