Comet Lemmon and the Deep Sky

NASA APOD · Nick Martin
COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet Lemmon, now heading for the outer solar system, still shows a greenish coma. This telescopic view captures it posing with star clusters and nebulae in Cassiopeia. The rich background is typical of this northern constellation, which lies along the crowded plane of our Milky Way galaxy. The comet is about 16 light-minutes, or 2 AU, from the Sun.
