High Noon Analemma Over Azerbaijan
NASA APOD · Tunç Tezel
(TWAN)
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Sun isn't always directly overhead at noon. This image, taken over a year in Azerbaijan, shows the Sun's position at high noon, tracing out an analemma. The Earth's tilt and its elliptical orbit cause the Sun's apparent position to shift throughout the year. If you take a picture at the same time each day, you can capture this figure-eight pattern.
