COSMIC MESSAGE
A 22-degree halo surrounds the Sun, caused by sunlight refracting through randomly oriented ice crystals in high cirrus clouds. This common atmospheric phenomenon was captured near Rome, Italy, with a smartphone. By simply blocking the direct glare of the Sun, the circular ring, with its characteristic angular radius, becomes easily visible.
