Rocket Streak and Star Trails
NASA APOD · Mike Killian
COSMIC MESSAGE
A camera at Kennedy Space Center captured star trails over three hours on January 23rd. The photo also shows a spectacular night launch of an Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's TDRS-L satellite. The star trails are caused by Earth's rotation, while the rocket creates its own streak of light as it ascends.
