T Tauri and Hind's Variable Nebula

NASA APOD · Bill Snyder
COSMIC MESSAGE

T Tauri, a variable star, sits over 400 light-years away at the edge of a molecular cloud. It is the prototype of its class, meaning it is the star we use to define what a T Tauri star is. Next to it is Hind's Variable Nebula, NGC 1555. Both the star and the nebula change in brightness, but not always at the same time.
