NASA APOD · CEDIC Team
COSMIC MESSAGE

Omega Centauri, also known as NGC 5139, is a globular star cluster about 15,000 light-years away. It is packed with about 10 million stars, many much older than the Sun. This cluster is the largest and brightest of about 200 known globular clusters that roam the halo of our Milky Way galaxy. Unlike most clusters, Omega Centauri shows different stellar populations with a range of ages and compositions.
