In 1006 AD, a new star, likely the brightest supernova in recorded history, appeared in the sky. The expanding debris cloud, known as SN 1006, is still visible today in the constellation Lupus. This composite image combines X-ray data from Chandra in blue, optical data in yellowish hues, and radio data in red.
