COSMIC MESSAGE
This rich starscape spans nearly seven degrees of the sky, looking towards the Sagittarius spiral arm and the center of our Milky Way galaxy. The telescopic mosaic features bright nebulae and star clusters cataloged by Charles Messier. M16, the Eagle Nebula, and M17, the Swan Nebula, are the brightest star-forming regions. They glow with the reddish light of hydrogen, each spanning about 100 light-years.
