COSMIC MESSAGE
During a partial solar eclipse, the New Moon partially obscured the Sun, revealing the giant sunspot group AR 2192. This extreme telephoto snapshot, taken from Santa Cruz, California, shows the Moon's silhouette and the sunspot group. AR 2192, about the size of Jupiter, visibly darkens a portion of the Sun's disk.
