Too Close to a Black Hole

NASA APOD · Alain Riazuelo
COSMIC MESSAGE

What would you see if you got close to a black hole? The gravity is so strong that it bends light, causing strange visual distortions. Every star in the normal sky has at least two bright images, one on each side of the black hole. Near the black hole, you can see the entire sky, as light from every direction is bent around and comes back to you.
