Huygens Lands on Titan

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Ten years ago, on January 14, 2005, ESA's Huygens probe landed on Titan, Saturn's largest moon. These fisheye images were taken by the probe's descent imager/spectral radiometer instrument during its slow parachute descent. They show Titan's surprisingly Earth-like surface of dark channels, floodplains, and bright regions, from altitudes ranging from 6 kilometers to 0.2 kilometers.
